The plot is the one of the most important elements of the story; however, the characters decide what happens, when it happens, and how it happens. This occurs when the external or internal plot plays a major role. In The Lady or the Tiger?, the external conflict causes the princess to have tremendous internal conflict. Because the plot line ends at the climax, many readers are not satisfied with the author's falling action and resolution. Think about the princess' character (background, upbringing, feelings, thoughts, actions) to determine what you think happens next.
Write a new ending (falling action and resolution) for the story in which you reveal the princess’s decision (falling action) and show the effects of the decision on all the characters (resolution).
Think about questions like...
1. What happens to the young man?
2. How does she feel about it?
3. What does the king do next?
4. What does the princess do next?
As the youth opened the door on the right, the tiger began its pounce. the princess watched as the love of her life was being mangled and destroyed by her fathers royal choice animal. inside the sadness grew to the point where she left the arena. the only thing that kept her sane was that the youth would always be with her instead of the maiden who was behind the other door.
ReplyDeletethe king was ecstatic having his usual entertainment. this time though he was even more elated having gotten rid of that poor scum of a youth. the only type of person that was good enough for his daughter would have to be rich and in the top class of society.
the fans however had something else to think. they all left with the knowing that they could be next. if the king couldn't resist this game for his own daughter then what was the chance any of them had his mercy?
I think that the princess choose the tiger because she really didn't want him to be with the lady. Also I kinda think that he'd rather be die then not be able to be with the princess because he loved her so much. The princess prolly felt really bad but she just couldn't bear the thought of him being with somebody he hated.
ReplyDeleteAfter I think that the princess stays to herself and never marries or anything like that because her father stole her one true love, and for that she could never forgive him. and I dont think that he'll ever really feel bad for it.
The princess got up suddenly. He had made a decision. She closed her eyes and in a flash she heard an enormous roar from the crowd. The princess did not know if he had opened the door with the putrid lady or the tiger? Then she heard the sound of horns. This was possibly one of the worst things she could hear. Horns a signal of marriage. She was devastated and could not help but to cry for she had now lost her one true love, but to her she would never imagine seeing him die. If living meant being with the girl she deeply hated, well that was much better. The princess left the stadium for she could not bear to watch the ceremony.
ReplyDeleteAll the boy could hear was left door pick the left door NO right door pick the right door. He couldnt decide in his head would the princess betray him at a time like this or would she let him be off with a fair maiden. This wasn't the boys first time in the stadium he had been here since he was little just not in the same predicaments as he was now. How could he do this he knew if he had fallen in love with the princess the king would have him stand trial, but how can you stop yourself from falling in love? He had no clue. It was time he decided to go with his heart he began to walk towards the door. It was the longest 50 meters of his life he approached the door and opened it. He opened his eyes and a lady ran out. And wrapped her arms around him. She was beautiful, but not as beautiful as the princess he was devesated. He would have rather been ate by a tiger. In a blur they were married rushed off by the guard and sent into the world.
Something was wrong and his wife could tell, yes she loved him deeply but she could see in his eyes that he was still in love, but not with her. She couldn't bear this pain so one day she left him. He arrived home to a note. Dear love, I must go for I can not stand the pain of you not loving me any longer, please find the princess for she is waiting for you.
10 years later the princess was in the marketplace for she had ran from the castle , and her dad she was going to move away to another country. When she bumped into a handsome man it could not be this was the boy now grown . They looked into each others eyes and knew who they were. They hugged passionantly for what seemed to last forever then they ran off together happily ever after.

ReplyDeleteThe princess motioned to the right door and then watches as he walks confidently over to the door and opened the door and the tiger jumps out and she watches as the tiger tares him apart and she thinks if she can't have him no one can. And as the wailers started to wail and and the bells chime they get the tiger back into it's cage and the princess looks at her father and finds that he was watching her and she smiles and he looks at her in astonishment. They head home together and the very next day the princess sees the girl who would have married her lover if she hadn't killed him and she smiles at her and says “If I can't have him you definitely can't have him either,” the girl looks at her in horror and walks as the princess walks away she stairs at her back then runs and tells all the other girls that are the in the kings court “ If the princess has a lover no one must tell the king or else he will die!” No one knew that as soon as the princess was by herself she would cry uncontrollable tears. The very next year the king decides to find the princess a suitable man to marry. The princess turns every single one of them down and the king couldn't seem to find any reason in his mind for her to turn them all down. And one day he couldn't find the princess when he herd a loud moan around the town the princess had gone to the arena and found the exact same tiger that had killed her lover and had opened it's cage but the tiger hadn't killed her it had started purring and it was following her up to the castle and if anyone got to close the tiger would growl menacingly until they got a little farther away and she walked right up to the king and said if another suitor comes close I will have this tiger the very tiger that killed my lover kill them and no one will be allowed to mourn them. And from then on every knew the princess as the tiger queen.
ReplyDeleteAs the youth opened the door to the right, a lady walked out into the light. The princess watched in horror as the love of her life was married to the lady before her. She could not bear the agony anymore and soon left to hide and weep. Why did the decision rest upon her?
ReplyDeleteThe king was angry, for he had wanted the youth to be ripped to pieces. He hadn't liked the youth for what he had done. The crowd of fans were pleased as usual because they had not wanted to see this youth torn to pieces. Why does the outcome of the story end the same? Either way, the youth is not with the princess.
i think that the princess chose the door with the tiger behind it.I think she chose that door because she didnt want to see him with another woman. Other wise she would have to deal with her love of here life marrying another beautiful woman that she despises.
ReplyDeleteAs he opened the door to the right, a tiger came running at him and tackled him. he began chewing him up into pieces. the princess looked away because she couldn't watch it. the youth was helpless. the king stood and laughed and told his daughter that he was worthless. the princess begged to her father to stop his horrible entertainment. the king told his daughter that she would enjoy it later in her life but, she told him that she will end this horrible thing. she never did.
ReplyDeleteas he opened the door the beautiful woman walked out and she was he menace. but she was happy that he didnt die. but she was mad that the other girl got her man and got to marry him. she was glad the youth didnt die and the croud was crearing as they were happy to see him not get ripped to pieces.
ReplyDeleteWhen the youth walked over to the door, he trembled. He was scared to death of what he needed to do, should he open the door and listen to the princess, or is she lying to him in jealousy? As he was standing by the right door he shuts his eyes and thinks to himself if he were to die right now there was no reset button, but if it was a lady behind the door, he would live, but never get to love the princess ever again. He touches the right door handle, and lets go... He starts walking over to the left door. He touches the handle of the left door, and lets go. He then looks up at the princess and she is still pointing at the right door, but this time he looks into her eyes, and she has a nervous look on her face, he grabs the handle to the left door, turns the handle, pulls the door open and out comes the lady. The youth was so hurt, how dare the princess lie to him and want him to be killed! He had so many mixed thought at this moment, should he be happy he is alive or mad that she lied or upset that he will never be with the princess, the girl who lied to him. As he is thinking about what just happened the lady is all over him and the priest comes out with and alter and animals, It was a regular celebration. He did think that the lady was very pretty and he had talked to her before, He could be happy with her, couldn't he? (2 years later) The lady and the youth got married that day exactly two years ago. They now have a boy and girl together and are very happy. He still thinks about the princess and he can't bare to look at her. After thinking these past years, he wouldn't be here if he would have listened to her. He is so thankful that he is happy and has a family and most of all is still alive, As the princess has no boyfriend and hasn't had one since that day, when the youth opened the LEFT door.
ReplyDeleteThe youth hesitated a moment, looked at the princess with her eyes closed, then opened the door. She knew the youth's fate. As her eyes close the youth opens the door. It seems like forever but is really just a matter of seconds until she hears the thunderous cheer of the crowd. He had picked the lady. She kept her eyes closed and let it sink in. She hadn't decided if she had made the right decision. She despised the lady so much and yet loved the youth and wanted him to live. As the crowd cheered, she cried. The youth and the lady were married. Everyone went home happy, except for the princess.
ReplyDeleteAs the princess lowered her right hand and the youth turned to face that right door, the princess closed her eyes quietly. As the cheering of the crowd in the arena began to roar, the youth slowly stepped toward that door, gripping that handle tightly. In one last moment, the princess opened her eyes to look down at her lover as he looks deeply back at her. He sees a faint tear run down her cheek and then turns to face his fate.
ReplyDeleteWith one swift hard tug, the door flies open and out jumps a muscular tiger. The princess quickly looks away as the tiger pounces on the youth. The crowd roared even louder and the princess's father cackled as her watched the tiger and the boy.
Later, after all was said and done, and the tiger had had it's fill, the people in the crowd started to file out. The helpers reined in the tiger and cleaned up the mess of the youth. The princess fled out of that stadium afterwards. Later that night, as the princess was sitting in her room, she knew what she had to do.
She rummaged through her dresses, selecting the most beautiful one she had. After checking to make sure everything was quiet and everyone asleep, she snuck to the back entrance of the kingdom. After ordering the guards to stand down and let her past, she walked to the one place were she felt safe-an outlook of the river than ran by her house that her and her lover used to sit at for hours. As she thought back to all the memories of her lover and how he had died a terrible, unfair death by her father, she looked down at the river with it's freezing cold waters and sharp hidden rocks below the surface. As she looked back up, she thought she said her lover's face, and then, she jumped into the freezing waters below, knowing that she would die. But she was not sad not frightened, for she knew she would soon see her true lover again.
The princess watched in horror as the love of her life walked over to the door on the right. And she knew what was going to come out so she quickly ran out of the arena. Two seconds later the youth opened the door and out ran the lady jumping into his arms. She smiled at him and he smiled back with sad eyes because he new that he could never be with the woman he loves.
ReplyDeleteThe princess ran out of the arena and into the busy streets of the city and down an alley where she sat and cried until the tears would no longer come and her fahers servants came to get her.
As for the king he was extremely happy that his daughter would not ever be with the poor youth that she loved...
as the youth opened the door, the tiger jumped on the kid. the princess turned away cause it was so disgusting and coulnt stand it. the tiger was chewing him to pieces n pieces. queen was so mad she just ran away crying and ran to the king. the king was very upset he wanted the youth to kill the tiger not for the tiger to kill him. the king said sorrry to princess for what had happened and i guess you guys will not be getting married after all. so then they never got married or of course never talked to each other ever again cause what had happened to him cause of the tiger. so the princess didnt live happily ever after after all.
ReplyDeletei think he opened the right door, because she told him to, and it had the tiger in it. the princess had so much hate for the girl behind the door, she would rather have him dead then have him be hers. she was going to lose him either way, she i think she chose the door with the tiger so he would die instead of having the girl she hated.
ReplyDeleteThe youth picked the door on the right. When they opened the door, the youths eyes got really big and he was speechless. He really didnt even know what to do when he saw the tiger walk closer and closer to him. He knew that he was going to die so he didnt move at all. The princess looked at him and her eyes started to water she was sad that she picked that one but she didnt know what else to. Before the tiger got all the way over to the youth the King stood up and yell stop. Then all of a sudden there were men getting the tiger and trying to put the tiger back in the cage. The princess was confused and didnt know what her father was doing. She thought that he hated him and wanted him dead. The king stood and said that he was wrong about his daughter and the youth. That it shouldnt matter if he had money or not. If they loved each other they should be able to be together. The princess and the youth were so happy. The bells rang and the music play and they ended up getting married and living forever together and after that day there was never again a person that had to chose between the tiger or the lady. The end
ReplyDeleteAs the princess signals to open the door on the right, the youth looks at the princess and smiles knowing that she'll understand why he has to marry the other lady. The princess' heart is breaking knowing she was telling him to open the door with the lady in it. Even though she couldn't have him she wanted him to be happy, and alive. As he was walking towards the doors she started to cry. The youth walked over to the left door (opposite of what she said) and opened it. The princess gasped! What was he doing?! The tiger jumped out and started ripping the youth apart. The princess was very angry at her father. So she looked at her smiling father and said, "If I can't have the one thing I love, then you can't either!" She jumped over the side was running to the youth's side. The princess' father was yelling at her to come back. It was too late. The tiger saw her and for a second they both stared at each other. The king was yelling her for her to run back! The princess was scared and she regretted her choice. She turned away and started running back to her father. The guards were hanging over the edge to grab her. The tiger was chasing after her. The princess jumped up and grabbed their hands. As they were pulling her up the tiger jumped at her and pulled her down. The king was yelling at the guards to get her but it was too late, she was dead. The princess and the love of her life died that day, together, in the same exact place, by the same hungry tiger.
ReplyDeleteI think that the girl picks the door with the tiger as the tiger is killing the boy she jumps in the arena. She does all she can before the tiger kills her. They die together in love. The girl lost something she loves and the king ended up losing something he loved
ReplyDeleteAs the young man opened the door, there was a loud roar from behind the door. As she hears this, she thinks that she just made a mistake! She screams in terror. As she is screaming, the king is laughing harder than anyone she ever had heard before. She ran bank to the castle where she was from, and no one ever saw her again after that event.
ReplyDeleteAs the youth opened the door on the right, the tiger began its pounce. the princess watched as the love of her life was being mangled and destroyed by her fathers royal choice animal. inside the sadness grew to the point where she left the arena. the only thing that kept her sane was that the youth would always be with her instead of the maiden who was behind the other door.
The princess got up and motioned towards the left door. She couldn't bare to watch as the love of her life began to open the door. She heard the crowd in awe as the tiger cage began to open, the tiger inside ready to destroy. What had she just done?, she thought to herself. She knew for sure that the left door was supposed to have the women that she hated behind it. She wanted her love to live, not die! She heard the dreadful rawr coming from inside the cage. The tiger began to run after her love but he was trying to climb up the walls to escape. This made the punishment worse, because if he fell he would be eaten by the starving animal below. His hand started to slip and with that he dropped to his doom. The princess would never see his sparkling face again and it hurt her inside but what was she to do? She had picked the wrong door. The crowd watched and jumped in their seats as they watched the tiger rip the young man to shreds. This was all the kings fault and the princess hated him for it and will for the rest of her life.
ReplyDeleteThe youth moved to open the right door. As he opened the door he gasped with air as a big mean tiger started walking out towards him. He started to run the other way but wasn't fast enough. The tiger caught him right away and was shredded to parts by the big tiger. The princess was so mad at her dad she jumped over the rail to go be with the love of her life even if it meant she would die right then and there. The two of them die in each others arms.
ReplyDeleteI think the guy picked the door with the lady. The lady would be jealous because the man lived. And she was happy that man didn't die. The man who picked the door with the girl was happy and got married
ReplyDeletehe walked to the door on the right took a deep breath open the door and was suprised to see the tiger walk out he started to run but the tiger was faster than he was it tore him apart the princess was happy she decided if she couldn't have him neither could any one else but she also knew that he would always be with her in her heart tell they day she died and she hoped that then they could be together again.
ReplyDeleteI think the princess chose the girl even though she didnt like her. but she also didnt want her love to die and be gone forever without seeing him or anything. also in the book it sounded like.
ReplyDeleteThere he is just looking devistated at the doors he looks up and sees the princess she puts her right hand up. a sign for which door to take. he looks left then right. he chooses the door on the right and there walks our his new wife. he looks back at her as she is in tears but he has to walk away and forget about her. as she is so mad at her father that he couldnt give him a chance because he didnt have enough money.
The youth walked to the door on the right. He takes a deep breath then opens the door. The tiger comes rushing out and tackles him to the ground and began to tear him apart. The king smiles and laughs at this entertainment while the princess turn away ashamed of what she had done. She was willing to kill the man she loved rather than see him in the arms of another woman that she despised. She was frightened but not sad because she knew she would see him again.
ReplyDeleteThe youth walked slowly to the door on the right. He held his breath as he opens the door. The lady comes out of the door and hugs him. the king smiles as the princess looks away, not wanting to watch her love with another woman. The bells ring and the music starts to play as the priest and the wedding party comes out of the door underneath the princess. A single tear falls from the princess's eye. She decided not to waste too many tears on him because she knows she will eventually get him back.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as the princess gave the youth her decision, the youth knew that it was for the good. He opened the door on the right, and found the lady standing behind the door, in the darkness. The princess knew that it would be for their own good. The lady was happy that the youth had picked the right door. The king, laughed, as if it was meant to be. He was going to be happy either way. The princesses heart was broken. But as long as he could live a good happy life, she was happy. The king was over-joyed, but yet hurt to see the pain of his daughter.
ReplyDeleteI think the story should have ended by the Youth being/marrying the Princess. Because the Princess wanted to be with him, but her father would not allow it. But even though the Princess knew that she would be unhappy she motioned to the Youth that he should pick a certain door because she knew that the Lady was behind there.
ReplyDeleteEven though it does not say what happened at the end. I think that the Youth picked the Lady. Because since the Princess knew which door held the Lady, I don't think she would want him to pick the door with the Tiger.
the youth opened the door on the right. the princess closed her eyes as the screams of her love filled the arena. she trembled with anger as she turned towards her father. the crowd gasped as the princess shoved her father himself into the arena. she turned and left sickeningly satisfied with what she had done. now she doesn't have to see her love with someone else and the man responsible for what happened was dead. as she left the arena an evil smile crossed her face.
ReplyDeleteThe youth went to the right door and opened it. As he is opening it, the princess shuts her eyes. Out walks out a woman. The princess opens her eyes and sees a woman walking out. Her expression dropped. She looked a little relieved but then sad at the same time, she ended up choosing for the youth to survive. instead of die, she felt that maybe he could grow to be happy with this woman, instead of having him die, she wanted him to be happy.
ReplyDeleteas the lady signals to open the door on the right he does slowly with his foot ready to kick the door back closed or the tiger away from him the tiger sits in the corner and waits for the door to get all the way open and pounces on his prey the youth the young child gets pummled and ripped to shreds. the lady turns her head and runs out of the building she cries all day and night then realized that everything happens for a reason. right as she realized that a young guy walks up and asks her out to dinner and she gladly excepts and lives happy together with this young guy
